Adam's Calendar
The Blaauboschkraal Stone Ruins, also known as Adam’s Calendar, might be the oldest megalithic stone circle and menhir system ever discovered. It is located near the Mpumalanga (meaning “the place where the sun rises” in the Zulu language) province of South Africa, on the top of a sloping cliff to the south known as the Transvaal escarpment, an area rich in quartzite and gold deposits.
The site was originally declared a national monument on 18 April 1975.
The stones are all dolomite, weighing up to 5 tons each, and are said to have been transported from a distant site.
The reason why this structure has been classified as a calendar is due to the fact that it is arranged in such a way as to follow the evolution of the sun throughout the course of the year: as the sun moves during the seasons, the shadow projected on the rocks moves in the same way.
Adam’s Calendar: An Ancient Megalithic Calendar
Adam’s Calendar consists of a large number of seemingly randomly scattered rocks, with a small percentage arranged to form a circle. Among these are a dozen upright stones, including two prominent stones about 2.5 meters high in the center. The original shape of this megalithic calendar is still clearly visible from satellite images. Among the ruins, one can find the first pyramid-shaped symbols and details carved into the rocks, including the Ankh symbol—used by the Egyptians thousands of years later—and symbols from the Dogon tribe of Mali, known for their inexplicable astronomical knowledge. Interestingly, the site is aligned along the same meridian as the Great Pyramid of Giza.
Based on the position of the monoliths and measurements made by Johan Heine, the circular structure was deliberately designed to align with the Earth’s cardinal points and with the equinoxes and solstices. Heine believes he has identified various solar alignments, including a particularly intriguing one involving three reclining stones which, according to him, were once oriented vertically towards the three stars of Orion’s Belt.
While many prehistoric sites exhibit this type of alignment, South African researcher and site authority Michael Tellinger, along with astronomer Bill Hollenbach, conducted further investigations. Their calculations revealed that the alignment of the stones would coincide with the position of Orion’s Belt as it appeared in the sky approximately 75,000 years ago.
Moreover, additional calculations done in June 2009 suggested an age of at least 160,000 years, based on the rise of Orion ‘flat on the horizon’ and the erosion of dolerite stones found at the site.
If the calculations are true, Adam’s Calendar would indeed be the oldest astronomically aligned megalithic stone circle ever discovered.
“I deal with research on the origins of mankind and the true history of the planet. I started showing interest in this type of subject in 1979, during my first year of university. Adam’s Calendar is the main place where my study takes place. It was designed to be aligned with the four cardinal points, N-S-E-W, but also features a stone carved in the shape of a hawk. I am of the opinion that it is related to the Egyptian divinity Horus. This sculpture marks the sunrise during the vernal equinox in the southern hemisphere of the planet. This appears to be the oldest stone sculpture of Horus ever found to date. It is known that Horus always represents the rising of the sun, so this could mean that we are in front of the place where the primeval Horus rises.” adds Dr.Tellinger.
Unveiling the Mysteries of Adam’s Calendar and the South Africa Stone Circles
The clues suggest that we are examining what may have been one of the largest and most mysterious civilizations on Earth.
The latest and most intriguing discovery related to the stone circles and Adam’s Calendar is the detection of sound frequencies emanating from the rock formations and the earth below them. Utilizing modern technology, Michael Tellinger and other scientists have detected and measured these acoustic properties, revealing that the earth inside the circles conducts electricity.
Remarkably, the sound frequencies produced by the earth beneath the stones are shaped as flowers of sacred geometry as they surface to the ground.
According to the South African researcher, “the photographs, artifacts and evidence we have accumulated undoubtedly point to a lost and unknown civilization, as it precedes all others – not by a few hundred years, or a few thousand years … but by many thousands of years. These findings are so impressive that they will not be easily digested by official opinion, historians and archaeologists, as we have already experienced. A complete paradigm shift is needed in our way of seeing our human history “.
